In the United States, a national park is an area of land protected by the government to preserve its natural beauty and ecosystems. Yosemite National Park in California includes nearly 1,200 square miles of mountainous scenery, including high cliffs, deep valleys, tall waterfalls, ancient giant sequoias, and a large wilderness area. El Capitan and Half Dome are two of Yosemite's iconic peaks.
